Abstract:This paper examines the academic journal clout index (CI) that is first proposed in the “Annual Report for Chinese Academic Journals Impact Factors (2015)” and finds some problems, such as unreasonable evaluation index weights, data distribution bias caused by the normalized method, the less rigorous determination of CI weight adjustment coefficient k, and comparatively large difference between some evaluation results and reality The modified CI index is proposed, and the journals related to Library Science are taken to compare the results It shows that the modified CI index is more simple and reasonable, and the first 18 journals before and after the revision are in line with the top 18 journals of libraries, intelligence and philology in CSSCI The first few journals ranked by the revised CI index are more reasonable
